What information do you gather automatically from Members?

Consumers: we ask for your name, address, phone number and email. This helps uknowa provide information to professionals about the general location of the job during the hiring process, and information about how to reach you after you’ve decided to hire.
Professionals: we require your legal business name, business description, a personal contact, phone number, and address. This will help us identify your business in case we need to contact you and also allow us to verify your information. When you decide to accept a job, uknowa will require your credit card information to process the transaction.
How will this information be used and who has access to it?
Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of enabling a service transaction between customer and contractor.
The email address you provided will be used to send you activity notifications regarding your job and job interests, and may be used to send you information and updates pertaining to your order, in addition to receiving occasional company news, updates, related product or service information, etc.
Do we disclose any information to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. How long do you keep the information submitted by Members?

Do you monitor online behaviour?
Our members communicate through our internal messaging system, and as a rule we do not monitor communications but reserve the right to. From time to time, uknowa may monitor suspicious activity by non-compliant members. Members that violate the Terms of Service will be removed from the site immediately. Member submissions that appear on the public area of the site are moderated and, if necessary, we reserve the right to edit, delete, or remove any communication on a public area of the site.
How do we protect your information?
uknowa takes appropriate precautions to protect our members’ information. Your account information is located on a secured server behind a firewall. Email is not recognized as a secure medium of communication; as such we request you do not send private information to us by email. Since all security measures are subject to possible circumvention, we cannot provide any guarantees regarding either the effectiveness of the security we employ, or our ability to prevent third parties from unlawfully obtaining any information you provide to us. All supplied credit card information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our payment gateway provider's database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.
