uknowa is currently an invitation-only system focused on bringing in high-quality service providers. When looking to hire, you can view a service provider's customer reviews, qualifications, work portfolio, and more on their uknowa profile.

Each contractors has the option of displaying their licensing and insurance information on their profile page. Any profiles that displaying WSIB, Liability Insurance, HST, Metro Toronto Licenses, or Ontario Business Licenses have had this information verified by uknowa.

Each service provider's profile can display customer reviews from past customers who have hired them through our service. If needed, you may also ask them for more references or information regarding a review.

Unlike other websites, customer reviews on uknowa are verified by uknowa staff to ensure their authenticity.

Enter as much detail about your job as possible including photos and schematics. For some jobs, we may also post questions on your job's Q&A forum that are commonly asked by service providers. Answering these questions will help service providers get a better idea of your needs and provide a more accurate quote.

Put as many details as you know of. Contractors will ask questions anonymously to help fill in the blanks so they can quote you properly.

To maintain your privacy, we recommend you not to post your contact information. Instead, once you've received a bid you can send that bidder Private Messages to send personal information.

Relax! Once your job is posted, you'll start to receive questions and bids from service providers. You can answer public questions, send private messages, and hire a service provider, all from your job page, all without ever picking up the phone!

uknowa is not a search engine, it's a matching engine. We match your job posting to service providers who are qualified and available to do your job so you don't need to waste time hunting for them.

You can expect up to 8 bids on your job. If you want more than 8 bids, you can remove bidders from your list.

Depending on how many details you've put in your job post you could receive up to 8 bids within 24 hours. We've found that, statistically, the more details and pictures you put in, the quicker you'll get bids.

Simply click 'Accept Bid' for your chosen provider and fill out your contact information. You'll receive the service provider's full contact and business information and they'll be given yours.

Posting a job and hiring through uknowa is always absolutely free. Your contact information will be sent to the service provider when you hire them.

When you hire a service provider through uknowa you are entering into a binding agreement to pay the service provider for the service you've requested.

As you'll have the contact information of your provider, get in touch with them and draw up a formal contract for the work requested.

Sorry, uknowa does not handle any part of this transaction. You will have to pay the service provider directly.

This depends on the service, though most service providers require a down payment upfront with the remaining due upon completion. Be sure to ask as much as possible about a service provider's payment schedule before you hire them.

You will have to refer to the contract made between yourself and the service provider.

When your job is complete, come back to you job page and leave your service provider a Customer Review!

Yes! Once your job is completed, head back to your job page to enter a detailed customer review.

Your review will be posted directly on your service provider's profile page. Writing a review is your best chance of telling the world what your service experience was.

You will have a chance to read your review before it is posted, but once your review has been confirmed, it cannot be changed.

Absolutely not! Customer Reviews are only removed if they are deemed to be inappropriate, inflammatory, or inaccurate - all violations of our Terms of Service. We take reviews very seriously and do not filter out reviews based upon requests from service providers.
